Polish media in Ireland – current overview 2025
Poles in Ireland constitute one of the largest immigrant communities on the Emerald Isle – according to the 2022 census, about 94,000 people of Polish origin live here. Numerous Polish media in Ireland have been created for them: newspapers, internet portals, radio broadcasts, and other forms of communication. They play an important informational and integrative role, helping compatriots abroad find their way in a new country, maintain Polish culture, and build bonds within the Polish community. Below, we present a detailed overview of these media – which ones are active in 2025, and which have ceased operations – along with their profile, target group, contact details, and contribution to community life.
Polish newspapers and magazines in Ireland
Polish press for the Polish community in Ireland includes both traditional weeklies and thematic magazines. Most of them are created by Polish companies or editorial teams operating in Ireland, often with financial support from Polish institutions. These publications are generally free and available in Polish shops, cultural centers, and online. Here are the most important titles:
-
Nasza Gazeta w Irlandii (NG24) – is a free Polish weekly published in Dublin by Wizard Media Ltd (Poles registered in Ireland). It is a relatively new magazine (published since 2023), but it is developing dynamically – it has its own website NG24.ie with news and online e-edition. Nasza Gazeta publishes news from Ireland and Poland, advice (e.g., the series "Guide: your own business" for entrepreneurial Poles), historical and cultural reports, as well as local information and Polish community announcements. The thematic scope is broad – from current news and events from the life of the Polish community, through curiosities about Ireland, to guides on health or running a business. The target group is the general Polish population in Ireland, including families, emigrant workers, and small entrepreneurs. The weekly cares about both providing reliable information and building Polish identity – the portal's slogan is "We write it as it is. The important thing is that it's in Polish!" Social role: integration of the Polish community by addressing topics close to them and informing about Polish initiatives. Contact: the editorial office is located at 78 Benburb Street, Dublin (D07 HW61), email: redakcja@ng24.ie, tel. +353 89 401 90 06. The publisher has received support from, among others, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of competitions for Polish media abroad, which emphasizes the importance of the weekly for the community.
-
MIR – Information and Entertainment Magazine – a bilingual cultural and social magazine published in Cork. MIR magazine has been published for many years (the numbering indicates over 180 issues, suggesting a history of more than a decade) and is available in both paper and electronic versions (E-editions section on the mir.info.pl website). It is a magazine with a lighter formula, focused on culture, entertainment, and the lifestyle of Poles in Ireland. It publishes interviews with Polish artists, reports from events (e.g., O'Czytani literary festivals in Dublin), curiosities from the world of music, film, health advice, and lifestyle tips. Its mission is not only to provide entertainment but also to promote Polish culture abroad and integrate the Polish community through joint cultural initiatives. The target group is Poles throughout Ireland looking for contact with Polish culture and language on a daily basis, of various ages (lots of content for families, people 30+). Informational and integration role: MIR encourages participation in local Polish events, announces upcoming events (concerts, exhibitions), and promotes a healthy lifestyle and the success of fellow countrymen. Contact: MIR editorial office (Office in Cork) – 14 Princes Street, Cork, tel. 021 427 8349, email: magazyn.mir@gmail.com. The magazine is created by a Polish team, and its publishers are local Polish entrepreneurs and enthusiasts.
-
Polska Gazeta (Gazeta.ie portal) – the first Polish community weekly in Ireland, founded in the mid-2000s. Polska Gazeta played a pioneering role in informing the first wave of emigrants after 2004. It published news from Poland and Ireland, guides for new residents, and ran the popular Gazeta.ie portal. Over time, however, the publishing activity of Polska Gazeta was phased out – after several dozen paper issues, the magazine ceased to appear. Currently, the Gazeta.ie brand functions mainly as an advertising service for the Polish community. The ogloszenia.gazeta.ie website allows adding small advertisements in Polish – for jobs, housing, items for sale, etc. – and enjoys great popularity (hundreds of new offers are regularly published, e.g., from May 2025). This portal supports Polish companies in Ireland, enabling them to reach Polish-speaking recipients in the country with advertisements and offers. Although Polska Gazeta no longer exists as a weekly (print media evolved towards online), its legacy is a recognizable advertising platform that economically integrates the Polish community. Contact: advertisements can be added through the form on the website; the former editorial address (from the time of publishing the weekly) is Dublin, but there is currently no active editorial office for direct contact.
Among the Polish community newspapers that have ceased operations, it's worth mentioning Portal Dublinczycy.com – a former local information service for Poles in Dublin. It was created in the early 2010s and focused on everyday life in the capital (events, transportation, advice for newcomers). Over time, Dublinczycy was absorbed by larger projects (their domain currently redirects to the Gazeta.ie advertising service) – which reflects the trend of consolidation of Polish internet media. Another title that did not survive in the market was Kurier Polski w Irlandii – a small information bulletin published briefly in print form (currently unavailable). Market dynamics mean that new, digital initiatives have now taken over the informational role for Poles abroad.
Polish online information portals
Polish internet portals in Ireland are now the basic source of daily information for the Polish community. They are run by Poles for Poles, often in the form of media startups founded by Polish entrepreneurs in Ireland. They publish local news (in Polish), official communications, practical advice, as well as materials concerning Poland and the world – always filtering them through the perspective of life abroad. Below are the most important of these portals:
-
Polonia Irlandia (PoloniaIrlandia.pl) – the most popular Polish information portal in Ireland, existing since 2014. This service daily provides the latest news from Ireland (law, taxes, society) and important information for Polish residents of the Island – from consumer warnings, through changes in regulations, to tourist curiosities. Its mission is not only to inform but also to create a community of Poles in Ireland. On the portal, we can find practical guides (e.g., how to handle formalities, navigate the legal, health, and educational system – "Life in Ireland" section), guides to Irish cities and attractions, a calendar of Polish cultural events, and a discussion forum and support groups for compatriots. Polonia Irlandia integrates Poles, allowing them to exchange experiences and provide mutual assistance on the site. This portal is created by a Polish editorial team (operating as a company or collective in Ireland) and is maintained through advertisements and cooperation with partners. Many Polish entrepreneurs in Ireland use PoloniaIrlandia.pl to promote their services – the portal offers dedicated advertising campaigns and sponsored articles for companies. Social role: informational (first source of news for Poles abroad) and integrative (brings together and connects the dispersed Polish community). Contact: via email info@poloniairlandia.pl or social media (the portal has over 49,000 followers on Facebook).
-
Polska-IE.com – a Polish information portal with a social-political-economic profile, run since 2013 by Bogdan Feręc (a Polish journalist living in Galway). It is a medium focused on more serious topics: it presents information and analyses concerning the functioning of the state, economy, and social affairs – especially in the context of the impact of these issues on the life of Polish emigration in Ireland. As the editorial team emphasizes, "our goal is to present issues that have a direct impact on the life of Polish emigration on the Emerald Isle." Polska-IE explains the intricacies of Irish politics (e.g., government decisions, legal changes) in Polish, describes the economic situation and the labor market, and also comments on international events important from the perspective of Poles abroad. The portal maintains regular business and political columns – it is therefore eagerly read by more civically engaged members of the Polish community, entrepreneurs, and leaders of Polish organizations. The editorial team consists of Poles from Ireland, and the portal itself often cooperates with Radio Wnet (it has the status of the so-called Radio Wnet Dublin Studio) and other Polish media, which increases the reach of its content. The role of the portal: providing in-depth, reliable information (often omitted in lighter services) and educating and activating the Polish diaspora in socio-political matters. Contact: email info@polska-ie.com. The portal also does not shy away from patronizing business initiatives – it organizes, for example, Polish entrepreneurship forums or debates (in cooperation with Polish companies and organizations). For Polish companies in Ireland, it is a valuable advertising platform among conscious consumers.
-
Irlandia.ie – a Polish community information portal with the longest tradition, founded on March 29, 2006, by Wojciech Wrona in Dublin. This service initially operated as a hobby site, and since 2009 – now in professional form – it has been created by a small team of editors (Andrzej Kobyłecki, Paweł Zawada, Marcel Łukaszczyk, and other engaged Poles). Irlandia.ie has always aimed to comprehensively inform Poles in Ireland about the affairs of the country of settlement, as well as maintaining ties with the country of origin. The portal prides itself on rich content: it publishes unique articles and reports prepared by Poles living in Ireland – topics include local affairs, everyday life, social news, politics, business, and culture. As the editorial team writes, it is "the world seen through the eyes of the Polish community in Ireland." Irlandia.ie explains the phenomena of Irish reality in an accessible way, explains the context of local events, and also provides entertainment (e.g., the Lifestyle or Culture section). In its heyday, the portal had an impressive reach – they declared reaching 250,000 Polish-speaking residents of Ireland and the interest of the Polish community scattered around the world. Currently, the service still functions, although updates appear less frequently. In 2024, articles were published about the situation of immigrants from Eastern Europe or anniversary reminiscences about Poland's entry into the EU. Irlandia.ie plays an important role as an archive of the Polish decade – in the Archive section, you can find materials from 2010 and earlier, documenting the life of Poles abroad. The portal also contains a What? Where? When? section – a calendar of Polish events in Ireland, useful for newcomers and event organizers. Social role: building an information bridge between the Polish community and Irish reality, strengthening identity by recalling shared history and successes (e.g., interviews with Poles achieving success). Contact: via the form on the website or social media – the portal is present on Facebook and Twitter. For advertisers (including Polish companies), a media kit and advertising price list are made available, which shows that the service supports Polish businesses in Ireland by offering them access to a wide audience of Polish readers.
-
Gazette.ie – Portal of the Polish Community in Ireland – already discussed above in the context of print press, also deserves a mention as an internet portal. In the initial period (2005-2010), Gazeta.ie was a dynamic news service, publishing articles about the life of Poles in Ireland and constituting a center of the local online community. Over time, however, editorial content moved to other media, and Gazeta.ie focused on the classified ads segment, becoming the largest Polish-language classifieds exchange in Ireland. The main page of the portal currently does not contain news (under the address gazeta.ie there is sponsor content or a placeholder), while the advertising service operates robustly under the subdomain ogloszenia.gazeta.ie. Despite the lack of its own information editorial office, Gazeta.ie still fulfills an important social and economic function: it connects Polish advertisers and recipients, helping, among other things, in finding work, housing, or buying and selling used items among the Polish community. In this way, it indirectly supports integration and facilitates the start for newcomers (giving them space to announce their needs in their native language). Status 2025: no active editorial activity (the portal functions archivally as an ad database; information content from previous years has disappeared).
Polish radio broadcasts and electronic media
In addition to press and internet portals, Polish radio in Ireland is another media pillar of the Polish community. There are several radio initiatives created by Poles – from broadcasts aired on local airwaves to 24-hour internet stations. They play the role of a daily companion (providing music and entertainment) and a platform for discussion and information for Poles in Ireland. In recent years, multimedia formats – video blogs, podcasts – often associated with radio projects, have also gained increasing popularity. Below are the most important Polish media on the airwaves and the internet:
-
Hello Irlandia – The Polish Show (103.2 Dublin City FM) – a flagship Polish radio broadcast in Dublin. Hello Irlandia is a media brand created by Polish journalists (including Katarzyna Kasia Forest) and volunteers, which includes a weekly radio broadcast and accompanying internet portal and social media channels. The radio program – known as "The Polish Show" – is broadcast every Thursday at 8:30 PM Irish time on Dublin City FM (103.2 MHz) and online. The broadcast is conducted in Polish and English, and its formula is a combination of the best Polish music, information, and interviews with interesting guests (both from Polish circles and Irish people interested in Poland). Hello Irlandia advertises itself with the slogan "Your voice on the Emerald Isle" and aspires to be the #1 Polish medium in Ireland. Indeed, the Hello Irlandia team is very active – they prepare video reports on YouTube, run social profiles informing about current events, and on the HelloIrlandia.ie website, they publish articles (often in English, to reach Irish audiences as well). The themes are diverse: from discussions about politics and education, through social affairs (e.g., healthcare, raising children abroad), to promoting Polish culture and local talents. The broadcast can be listened to live, and archival episodes are made available as podcasts (e.g., on Spotify). Target group: mainly younger and middle-aged Poles in Ireland who appreciate a dynamic form of communication, as well as English-speaking listeners interested in the Polish perspective (the program is sometimes bilingual, guests often speak English, which promotes intercultural integration). Social role: Hello Irlandia informs, inspires, and supports the Polish community – it creates a space for debate on issues that "concern our life in Ireland," and at the same time provides entertainment and a sense of community. The broadcast often addresses difficult topics (e.g., problems with the education system or cases of discrimination), trying to mobilize the Polish community to action. Polish companies in Ireland will also find something for themselves – HelloIrlandia offers the possibility of business promotion (advertising packages, sponsored interviews) directed at Polish listeners. Contact: the editorial team asks for email contact at the address plinirlandia@gmail.com; you can also follow Hello Irlandia profiles on Facebook and YouTube.
-
Radio Cenzura – a Polish internet radio station broadcasting from a small private studio in County Kildare, Ireland. It was established in 2020 (during the pandemic) as a grassroots initiative of a group of enthusiasts who missed an independent Polish voice on the airwaves. Radio Cenzura operates mainly online – it broadcasts its programs live through the RadioCenzura.pl website, YouTube channel, and streaming platforms. During the day, the station plays carefully selected music – many new releases from the Polish scene, alternative and niche tracks (which are hard to find in mainstream radio stations). In the evenings, there is time for original live broadcasts, interviews, reports, and conversations on topics close to listeners: everyday life abroad, self-development, health, culture. Programs are conducted in Polish and 100% oriented towards Polish listeners in Ireland. As the editorial team emphasizes, Radio Cenzura educates, informs, and integrates the Polish community on the Island. The schedule includes health guides, coaching and motivational broadcasts, press reviews, and thematic bands (e.g., "Magic of the Word" – meetings with literature, "Monday Energy" with music for a good week, etc.). The station cooperates with Polish cultural institutions – e.g., the Joyful Life foundation – in organizing events and concerts, which it then supports in the media. Target group: middle-aged listeners, appreciating more ambitious content, interested in personal development, art, and social activity. The radio has a non-profit character, it is maintained by the creators' own contributions and possible patronages; it is open to community involvement (e.g., it invites interested people to co-host broadcasts or suggest topics). Social role: Radio Cenzura has become an important platform for the exchange of thoughts in the Polish community – thanks to interactive broadcasts, listeners can call, comment in the chat, co-creating this medium. The station also promotes Polish artists in Ireland and integrates creative circles (including organizing competitions and presenting local music bands). Contact: via the RadioCenzura.pl website (links to social media and a contact form are available there).
-
Studio Dublin of Radio Wnet – it is worth mentioning that apart from native initiatives, in the Irish media landscape, there is also the Polish nationwide radio station Radio Wnet, which has its Polish branch in Dublin. The so-called Studio 37 of Radio Wnet (called Studio Dublin) consists of cyclical on-air entries broadcast from Dublin on the waves of Radio Wnet in Poland, conducted by Tomasz Wybranowski and Bogdan Feręc – experienced Polish journalists. They raise topics related to Ireland and the Irish Polish community in an all-Polish forum, playing the role of a kind of Polish correspondent. Studio Dublin is supported by grants from the Senate of the Republic of Poland and other institutions (as part of programs for Polish media abroad) and is an example of cooperation between Polish and Polish community media. Although it is not a separate station, but a program in the schedule of Polish radio, its presence increases the audibility of the voice of Poles in Ireland in the international forum.
The role of Polish media in Ireland – information, integration, business support
Polish media in Ireland play a multidimensional role in the lives of emigrants. First of all, they are a source of information in the native language – they provide news relevant from the perspective of Poles abroad (about Irish politics, economy, society, but also about events from Poland that may concern them, e.g., elections, changes in regulations concerning returns, etc.). Thanks to them, the Polish community in Ireland stays up to date with what is happening both in their new country of residence and in their homeland. These media often filter and explain local news, taking into account the cultural context – e.g., they explain how new Irish law affects Poles in Ireland (driving license, benefits, immigrant status, etc.).
Equally important is the social and integrative role. Newspapers, portals, and radio create a space where Poles can feel a sense of community – read about the successes of fellow countrymen, learn about the stories of other emigrants, share their own experiences. They organize competitions, patronize Polish events (festivals, author meetings, charity actions), inform about the activities of Polish organizations in Ireland. All this strengthens bonds within the diaspora and facilitates integration with Irish society. For example, many media (such as Polonia Irlandia or Hello Irlandia) promote bicultural initiatives – they encourage Poles to participate in Irish holidays (St. Patrick's Day, Culture Night), and at the same time bring Irish people closer to Polish traditions (e.g., by reporting on Polish Independence Day celebrations in Dublin). These media also serve as a language bridge – they help people with weaker knowledge of English understand the surrounding reality, which increases their comfort of life and speed of integration.
A separate aspect is supporting Polish entrepreneurs in Ireland. Practically all the mentioned media offer advertising and business cooperation with Polish companies operating in Ireland. Thanks to this, Polish shops, construction companies, accounting offices, clinics, etc. can effectively reach Polish-speaking customers. Polish media publish company catalogs, sponsored articles (e.g., guides financed by Polish banks or consulting companies), run job and service advertisement sections. Such an ecosystem favors the development of Polish companies in Ireland – it builds a network of contacts and trust within the community. For example, Nasza Gazeta and Irlandia.ie have entire sections devoted to entrepreneurship and the successes of native companies, Hello Irlandia gives airtime to present the offer of Polish businesses, and the ogloszenia.gazeta.ie service enables free promotion of small businesses. In this way, the media not only integrate socially but also stimulate the Polish economy abroad.

Polish media in Ireland in 2025 create a diverse ecosystem – from traditional press, through modern information portals, to radio broadcasts and multimedia content. Most of them are created locally by our compatriots, respond to the real needs of the Polish community, and develop along with their community. Their informational role provides Poles with access to news in their native language, their social role builds bridges between people abroad, and their integrative role helps find their place in Irish reality without losing ties with Polish culture. Moreover, these media also support Polish companies in Ireland, promoting native entrepreneurship and encouraging the use of services provided by Polish specialists on site. Thanks to all this, the phrase "Poles in Ireland" takes on a real shape – as an integrated, well-informed, and active community, whose voice is audible both in the country of settlement and in the homeland.
